1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that websites store on your device to remember information between visits. "Similar technologies" — including local storage, session storage, and pixels — work the same way and are covered by this policy. We refer to all of them as "cookies" below.
2. How we use cookies
Rankli uses cookies for four reasons:
- To make the site work — for example, remembering whether you prefer the light or dark theme.
- To keep the site secure — protecting against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access.
- To understand how the site is used — measuring page views, traffic sources, and which sections people care about, so we can improve.
- To process payments — when you check out through Stripe.
We do not use cookies to build advertising profiles or to track you across unrelated websites.
3. Types of cookies we use
Strictly necessary
These cookies are essential for the site to function. They cannot be turned off in our systems. They are usually set in response to actions you take — like setting your theme preference, logging in, or filling in a form.
rankli-theme— stored in local storage, remembers your light/dark theme choice.
Performance and analytics
These cookies help us understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it. They tell us things like which pages are most visited and how visitors move around. The information is aggregated and not used to identify you individually.
Functional
These cookies enable enhanced functionality and personalization. They may be set by us or by third-party providers whose services we use.
Payment
Stripe sets cookies when you check out to detect fraud and process payments securely. See Stripe's cookie disclosures for details.
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies on Rankli are set by third parties whose services we embed or use. These may include:
- Google Fonts — to deliver the typefaces used on the site (no advertising cookies are set).
- Stripe — for secure checkout and fraud prevention.
- Analytics providers — privacy-respecting analytics to measure site usage.
We don't control the cookies set by third parties. We recommend reviewing their cookie policies for full details.
5. Managing cookies
You have several options for controlling cookies:
- Browser settings — most browsers let you block all or some cookies, or clear cookies that have already been stored. Look in the privacy or security section of your browser settings. Note that blocking strictly necessary cookies may break parts of the site.
- Local storage — clearing site data in your browser will remove items like
rankli-theme; the site will reset to its default theme on your next visit. - Opt-out tools — many analytics providers offer browser opt-out plug-ins; check the provider's site for instructions.
6. Do Not Track
Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no industry-wide standard for how to interpret it, so Rankli does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do, however, honor opt-out requests sent through Global Privacy Control (GPC) where required by law.
7. Updates to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time to reflect changes in the cookies we use or for legal, regulatory, or operational reasons. We'll update the "Last updated" date above whenever we do.
